Software Support Technician

Location: Greenville, SC

Spartan Technology Solutions, Inc., headquartered in Spartanburg, SC, seeks a qualified Software Support Technician to provide software support for judicial/legal government end-users. This individual must be able to provide excellent customer service through fast and thorough response to requests and analysis of legal and judicial software issues. Previous education and/or experience with prosecutor offices, courts, and other judicial/legal agencies is preferred.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform a full range of problem analysis and resolution of help desk problem calls and work station support duties
  • Contribute to team effort by performing highly detailed work on multiple concurrent tasks under strict deadlines
  • Understand, interpret, explain and apply detailed, specialized information, including codes, rules, policies, procedures, forms, legal terms and technical documentation
  • Communicate clearly with end-users, co-workers, management and executives, both orally and in writing, using correct legal, judicial, and computer terminology
  • Assist and train end-users
  • Install, configure, troubleshoot, test and maintain legal/judicial software
  • Promptly respond to inquiries and requests for technical assistance
  • Assist in the implementation of client software and upgrade projects
  • Support users via remote access, on-site, or by telephone; open, log and document action taken on problem calls in the help desk software
  • Use tact, discretion and courtesy in dealing with confidential information and sensitive situations
  • Establish and maintain highly effective, user-focused working relationships with paralegals, attorneys, judges, managers, and other IT personnel, including representatives of other agencies and others encountered in the course of work
  • Maintain up-to-date technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks and participating in professional associations
  • Write or revise resolution documentation in accordance with IT standards and procedures
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as requested or required

Requirements:

  • Excellent customer service skills and the ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to obtain accurate and complete information from customers to identify their needs and problems and develop responses and solutions
  • Knowledge and familiarity of computing infrastructure (operating systems, hardware, applications, storage servers and tools) – AS/400 a plus
  • Ability to recognize, analyze and solve technical problems
  • Time management and organizing skills necessary to prioritize and manage multiple assignments
  • Good communication and customer service skills
  • Written and verbal communication skills needed to explain technical needs and problems
  • Ability to learn and support new applications quickly
  • Standard business support software, including word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, graphics, database programs and court case management systems
  • Four-year degree preferred; two-year degree required. Areas of study: paralegal, law, justice, or related field, and/or Computer Science or related field.
  • As this is an entry level position, previous experience is helpful but not required.

Developers

We are looking for highly motivated individuals who can provide expert knowledge of Visual Studio, .NET 2.0 (later versions a plus), Windows Forms, C#, Visual Basic .NET, and MS SQL Server, including Reporting Services.

The developer should be an expert coder in web services, data exchange, data migration, and user interfaces. In addition, they should have expertise in the most effective and efficient product development using Visual Studio, MS SQL Server and MS SQL Enterprise Server Reporting Services. This would include code development, build management, source code management, unit testing, integration testing, and deployment. Knowledge in the following products would be helpful: Visual SourceSafe, XML, XSL/XSLT, JavaScript, C#. Knowledge of Computer Associates PLEX tool and Crystal Reports is helpful. Strong verbal and written communication skills are a must.
